Expert Accommodation
Resilience, I've come to understand, isn't about being stoic or perfect. It's about being vulnerable, honest, and unapologetically human. Living with a neuromuscular disease has taught me that adaptability is a skill, not a limitation.
Work comes with its own set of challenges. I structure my life around my body and nervous system — incorporating movement, intentional breaks, and expert accommodation into my daily schedule. By pacing myself, I can show up fully for clients while maintaining my health and energy.
Some days I'm conquering the world; some days I'm on the couch with Netflix and snacks — and both are valid. Learning to rest doesn't mean doing less; it means doing what actually works. This balance allows me to bring focus, quality, and genuine presence to every session.
For years, I tried fitting into a traditional 9-to-5 schedule, and it cost me my health more times than I can count. Eventually, I learned to advocate for what I needed — shorter office days, work-from-home afternoons — and discovered that colleagues respected dedication, not the need for adjustments. That experience taught me something important: we all have moments of feeling like we're not doing enough, regardless of ability.
Rejecting one-size-fits-all productivity has allowed me to honor my body's pace, manage fatigue, and prioritize rest without guilt. When I don't get enough sleep, my thinking slows and my coordination suffers. Listening to my body isn't a weakness — it's a strategy for sustainable success.
I love working with tech professionals because I understand this world intimately: running on fumes, snapping at loved ones, skipping meals, never being able to switch off. Physical and mental health are often the first things sacrificed — but they don't have to be. With the right tools and mindset, balance is genuinely achievable.
